WHAT: The kettlebell has been around for hundreds of years, but why only recently has it suddenly hit "the big time?" Why all the buzz and hype? After all, it's just a hunk of iron with a handle on it, right? (So, you're thinking to yourself, "Why the heck is my trainer always so NUTS about this thing?") Well. . come to this lecture/workout and learn more!
Yes, there's a lot of hype, but when used in the hands of a properly trained, properly credentialed fitness professional, the kettlebell can help you reach your goals rather quickly. It is, to be sure, just another "tool" in the trainer's toolbox. . .but let's just say that from an exercise science standpoint (and for what most clients want when they join a gym) it's a really, REALLY efficient tool. There's no "one perfect thing" and if any trainer tries to say differently, they're selling you on a bill of goods. What you, as the consumer, should know is that it (always!) boils down to sound scientific principles with someone at the helm to implement those principles to achieve a desired outcome. (And that can be anything from helping you have more energy with your grand kids, to decreasing bodyfat, or for training for your sport of choice. Whatever the case may be.)
With kettlebells, you're entering into a tradition. Most people have no idea that they originated in Eastern Europe and that, even now, there's actually something called "Girevoy Sport" which are national kettlebell competitions performed all over Eastern Europe. Point is, you'll know a lot more than the average bear after this seminar! :) Over the course of the seminar, you'll work on getting your foundation lifts solid. Rushing to try and "get" or "perfect" kettlebell training will take you a lifetime. (Yes, we're serious.) Ton's of people underestimate it because, after all, it's not as complicated looking as a Pilates Reformer or Cadillac, right? But trust us. . .it's very much a skill and is no different than Pilates, yoga, martial arts, boxing, swimming, and so on. But, like anything else that takes time to learn from a great Coach--the rewards are absolutely worth it.
WHO SHOULD REGISTER FOR THIS SEMINAR: If you're a member of Stability CrossFit, it's free, so show up! Odds are pretty high you will have (or you HAVE had) a kettlebell in your hand at some point. You should absolutely be at this course because you'll walk out of it with a much broader appreciation and understanding of this deceptively "simple" looking piece of equipment. If you're not a member but have heard a lot about kettlebells and were always wondering what the big deal is. . .this is the perfect opportunity.
No "credentials" of any kind will be given (to anyone) at this seminar. It is strictly about learning, exercising, and having a fantastic time in a safe, nurturing, and progressive environment.
