Michael Marasigan is a personal trainer and educator in New York City.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Binghamton University in 1997 and his Master’s degree in Applied Physiology from Teachers College (Columbia University) in 1999. Michael is certified through the NASM (PES), the NSCA (CSCS) and as a Medical Exercise Specialist.

Since 1996 Michael has worked as a personal trainer with several commercial gyms throughout his career, including the YMCA, New York Sports Clubs, Equinox and Plus One Fitness.  He has also worked with private in-home training companies in Manhattan such as Energetics, SWEAT and Focus Integrated Fitness.  In the past decade Michael has completed more than 10,000 training sessions, working with an array of clients including celebrities, athletes, post-rehab clients, and older adults along with the general population.  Michael has developed strong, long-term relationships with clients by skillfully adapting to each one, a characteristic he believes is paramount to a successful career in fitness.

While at Equinox and Focus Integrated Fitness, Michael held Fitness Management positions and was also involved with Trainer education for more than 300 trainers.  Over the years he has developed a passion for educating trainers and has taught classes in topics such as myofascial release, kettlebells, exercise progression, program design and sports specific training (golf, basketball, boxing).  With a thoughtful approach to teaching, backed with science and research, Michael has formed many long-lasting relationships with trainers, who often seek him out for mentoring and advice.

As a gifted athlete, Michael has excelled in several sports such as basketball, golf, baseball, football and track and field.  It was his keen interest in sport from childhood into adulthood that served as a springboard for his career in fitness. Today, Michael enjoys a life of helping clients and trainers reach their goals, while also raising two active boys in NYC with his wife Margarita, a registered nurse and childbirth educator.
